Ashleigh is a sociologist and writer in Sydney, Australia.
She is a current postdoctoral fellow at the Vitalities Lab, UNSW Sydney, researching digital data and technological futures, and former postgraduate Endeavour Research Fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her PhD in sociology was awarded by Griffith University in 2018.
Her writing has appeared in Overland, SCUM, Bareknuckle Poet, BrainDrip and more. Her zines have featured at the MCA Writers’ Festival, the National Young Writers’ Festival Zine Fair, and OtherWorlds.
Ashleigh is the founder and editor of So Fi Zine, an indie publication for creative social science featuring guest contributions by Howard Becker, Raewyn Connell, Les Back, Nirmal Puwar, Michael Burawoy, Patricia Leavy and other internationally leading sociologists.
She is also the invited inaugural Fiction Editor of The Sociological Review, a high quality short story (and exegesis) series that imaginatively extends sociology’s study of society into fiction.
Ashleigh is the elected Secretary (2019-2020) for The Australian Sociological Association, and their former elected Postgraduate Portfolio Leader (2017-2018).
